Whether you realize it or not

We are facing very uncertain times – worldwide. We live in a world of secrets that are unraveling across the globe. It’s scary, no matter how tough you think you are. Of course, there are wonderfully happy times in life, great people, laughter, love and peace. This article is about the tough times hitting people around the world. My wish is to encourage hope, courage, inner strength and resolve in all of us.

In today’s turbulent times, tension runs high

People clash over the smallest issues while others strive to remain calm amid the uncertainty. Political factions—right, left, and center—vie relentlessly for power, and their actions ripple through all our lives. Who can we trust? Who is deceiving us? Here’s my advice: don’t just listen to what people say. Watch their body language, scrutinize their actions, and most importantly, get busy and verify the facts for yourself. The answers are out there because many people took the time to document the truth.

Yes, it takes time and effort

To sift through the chaotic mess of the world, but if you don’t, you’ll be left in the dark. Sitting idle, hoping things will improve while ignoring the truth, won’t serve you, your family, your community, or your life. Take control—seek the truth, challenge falsehoods, and shine a light on the reality around you. Only then can we hope to build a better future for all.

With a better future in mind

How can we remain calm in the face of chaos and uncertainty?

Here are 10 powerful suggestions that I hope resonate deeply with you.

1. Limit Media Consumption: Constant exposure to news and social media can increase anxiety. Try to limit the time you spend on these platforms and be selective about the sources you follow. Also, who controls the media? Do some research.

2. Focus on What You Can Control: Instead of worrying about things beyond your control, focus on what you can do. Taking proactive steps in areas where you can make a difference can empower you. Encourage others to do the same.

3. Routine and Structure: Establishing a daily routine can provide a sense of normalcy and control amidst chaos. Having set times for activities like waking up, meals, family time, YOU time, work, and exercise can create stability. Break down tasks into manageable steps and prioritize them. Having a clear plan can reduce feelings of being overwhelmed.

4. Healthy Lifestyle: Eating well, getting enough sleep, cutting down on online activity, and using blue blocking glasses to protect your eyes and brain. If there is an excessive use of alcohol and caffeine, cutting down can help maintain emotional and physical balance. De-cluttering your physical space can clear mental clutter and bring a feeling of calm and peace.

5. Stay Connected: Maintain relationships with family and friends. Positive social support can provide comfort and perspective, helping you feel less isolated. Volunteering to help others provides a sense of purpose and can also shift your focus away from your own worries.

6. Exercise: Physical activity can reduce stress and improve mood. Even simple activities like walking, walking your pet, stretching, going to the gym, getting out in the sun, grounding yourself to the earth barefoot. Nature is healing. Do activities that make your body happy!

7. Engage in Creative Expression & Hobbies: Doing things you enjoy can be a great way to relieve stress and find joy, whether it’s reading, putting puzzles together, gardening, painting, music, dance, pet therapy, or any other activity that brings you pleasure. Learning a new skill engages the mind and gives you a sense of accomplishment.

8. Practice Gratitude: Taking time to acknowledge and appreciate the positive aspects of your life can shift your focus away from stress and negativity. Engage in mindfulness and meditation practices, journaling, visualization, or breathing practices that bring you calm and peace.

9. Set Boundaries: Learn to say no and set boundaries to protect your time and energy. Avoid over-committing yourself to activities that cause unnecessary stress. This is a big one for many people!

10. Professional Help: If anxiety or stress becomes overwhelming, seeking help from a mental health professional can provide strategies and support tailored to your needs.

Thank you for listening to my thoughts on staying calm in a chaotic world. We are not out of the weeds yet – by a long shot. In the weeks, months, and years to come, we will undoubtedly face new challenges and uncertainties. It’s important to remember that maintaining our composure and resilience is crucial. By continuing to support one another, practicing kindness, and adapting to changing circumstances, we can navigate through these turbulent times with strength and courage. Stay focused on what you can control, and find solace in small moments of peace and positivity. Together, we can overcome whatever lies ahead. I am grateful for you.
